FAQs
Is this dynamometer accurate?
Yes. The Handexer dynamometer uses a high-precision strain gauge sensor and measures grip strength up to 265 lbs (120 kg). For best accuracy, hold the device firmly and apply maximum force during each test.
Who is this grip strength tester designed for?
The Handexer dynamometer is suitable for athletes, fitness enthusiasts, older adults, rehabilitation patients, physical therapists, and anyone who wants to monitor and improve grip strength over time.
What is a normal grip strength result? Does it vary by age or gender?
Yes. Grip strength varies by age and gender. For example, a healthy 60-year-old man typically scores between 66.6 and 105.8 lbs (30–48 kg). For detailed reference values, please refer to our Grip Strength Measurement Chart.
How do I perform isometric grip exercises?
- Measure your maximum grip strength using the Handexer dynamometer.
- Use the dynamometer to perform the exercise.
- Follow this routine:
(a) Squeeze at approximately one-third of your maximum grip strength for 2 minutes with each hand.
(b) Rest for 1 minute between hands.
(c) Complete 3 rounds (approximately 12 minutes total).
(d) Repeat 3–5 times per week.
Does the dynamometer provide real-time readings?
Yes. The Handexer dynamometer displays your grip strength in real time while you squeeze and records your peak grip strength during the test.
Is it suitable for large hands?
Yes. The adjustable handle is designed to fit a wide range of hand sizes, from smaller hands to larger adult hands. The handle opening measures 3.3 × 1.3 inches and features an adjustable gear mechanism, allowing you to find a comfortable and secure grip.
How firm is the rubber grip on the handle?
The TPR rubber grip is intentionally firm to ensure accurate and consistent grip strength measurements up to 265 lbs (120 kg). A softer grip may reduce measurement accuracy. If you have sensitive hands, we recommend wearing training gloves during extended or frequent use.
Does it come with batteries?
Yes. Two AAA batteries are included, so the dynamometer is ready to use right out of the box.
How long will it last?
The high-precision sensors are rated for more than 20,000 tests. With normal use, the dynamometer is expected to last over five years.
How do I switch between lbs and kg?
Simply press the unit button on the control panel to switch between pounds (lbs) and kilograms (kg) before starting your test.
Can it save records for multiple users?
Yes. The dynamometer can store up to 19 user profiles, including age and gender information. This makes it ideal for families, coaches, trainers, rehabilitation programs, and healthcare professionals who want to track grip strength progress over time.
